Computer & Networking Technician

Location: Viroqua, wi

Job Description:
As a Computer/Networking Technician, you will split your time between working in our store location and performing on-site service calls at client locations. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing computer systems, managing networking setups, and ensuring optimal performance of client technology. Whether you’re handling in-store repairs or providing on-site assistance, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring client satisfaction and maintaining smooth tech operations.

In-Store Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance of computer systems, networking devices, and peripherals.
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting issues and offer guidance on system upgrades or new technology solutions.
  • Install and configure software, hardware, and operating systems for in-store clients.
  • Manage inventory of parts and tools needed for repairs.
  • Ensure that workstations and equipment are properly maintained for in-store operations.

On-Site Responsibilities:

  • Perform service calls to client locations, diagnosing and resolving network and hardware issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) at client sites.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues, including network connectivity, server configurations, and security concerns.
  • Provide clients with guidance on maintaining system performance and implementing preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate records of service calls, issues, resolutions, and client interactions.
  • Follow-up with clients after service visits to ensure satisfaction and address any additional issues.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Computer/Networking Technician or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Experience with installing and configuring computer systems, network devices, and peripherals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients, both in-store and on-site.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-site service calls.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple service tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent.
  • Experience with remote support tools and diagnostics.
  • Familiarity with cloud services, VoIP systems, and network security best practices.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing or service role.
  • Room for growth within the company.
